Job Description

Private Upper East Side family seeks a highly experienced, polished, and dependable Driver to support their daily transportation needs in Manhattan, with some additional seasonal and weekend flexibility. This is a part-time role consisting of approximately 30–35 hours per week, with a schedule of Monday through Friday, typically 2:30pm–8:30pm, and flexibility for later evenings and occasional weekend driving as needed. The position is primarily focused on the safe and reliable transport of the principals’ two children to and from school, after-school activities, and family commitments. 

The ideal candidate will possess a flawless driving record, demonstrate warmth and professionalism, and be comfortable working closely with children and their friends while maintaining discretion at all times. Familiarity with New York City and surrounding areas is essential, along with flexibility to occasionally assist with errands or transport to the family’s Hudson Valley residence. 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 

• Safely transporting children to and from school, after-school activities and other commitments  
• Providing occasional driving for principals, including dinners and occasional weekend events 
• Ensuring the vehicle is maintained at all times (gas, cleanliness, service scheduling, registration, etc.) 
• Coordinating schedules with principals and household staff; adapting to an ever-changing calendar 
• Assisting children in and out of the vehicle; encouraging responsibility (keeping track of belongings, respectful conduct) 
• Running occasional errands or provisioning requests when not transporting family members 
• Additional general driving duties upon request 
  

Requirements:  

• Strong command of English language; outstanding writing and verbal communication 

• Excellent references required from both current and previous employers 

• Minimum 5+ years of professional driving experience in a similar role, for a private family  

• Exceptional organizational and time management skills and the ability to multi-task and prioritize work 

• Polished, poised, and professional in both mindset and manner, use of utmost discretion at all times 

• Deep knowledge of Manhattan and Tri-State area roads 

• Comfortable working with children and their friends in a respectful, responsible and approachable manner 

• Ability to engage with children with clarity and patience, ensuring effective communication regarding schedule changes 

• Warm, reliable, discreet, and professional demeanor 

• Valid Driver’s License; confident driver with zero points on record 

• Legally authorized to work in the United States 

   

Compensation: $35–$40 per hour, depending on experience 

Benefits : Medical Insurance stipend ($300–$500/month with proof of coverage)
