Summary
A Network Security Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining secure network infrastructures to protect organizational data and systems from cyber threats. This role focuses on building resilient network architectures, monitoring for vulnerabilities, mitigating risks, and ensuring compliance with security policies and standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain secure network architectures across on-premises and cloud environments.
  • Configure, manage, and optimize firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS, and other security devices.
  • Monitor network traffic and logs for suspicious activity using SIEM and other monitoring tools.
  • Conduct vulnerability assessments, penetration tests, and regular security audits.
  • Respond to and investigate security incidents, minimizing impact and downtime.
  • Collaborate with IT, DevOps, and system engineering teams to secure new systems and applications.
  • Implement security patches, updates, and configuration changes to maintain a secure network.
  • Maintain detailed network security documentation, policies, and standard operating procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and best practices.
  • Evaluate emerging security technologies and recommend improvements.
  • Integrate network security solutions with enterprise applications, cloud services, and APIs.
  • Troubleshoot network and security issues in production environments.
  • Provide guidance and training to staff on network security best practices.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to team knowledge sharing and security awareness initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 3-6 years of hands-on experience in network security, firewall management, and monitoring solutions.
  • Strong knowledge of network protocols, routing, switching, and network security technologies.
  • Hands-on experience with security monitoring tools, SIEM platforms, and vulnerability assessment tools.

Preferred Skills / Duties

  • Certifications such as CCNP Security, CISSP, or equivalent.
  • Experience in cloud network security (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Knowledge of threat intelligence, malware analysis, and incident response.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
  • Experience with automating network security processes and MDM solutions.
  • Ability to translate business security requirements into technical solutions.
Strong communication, collaboration, and stakeholder engagement skills
