Job Description

Summary/Objective:

Roofers are responsible for being an effective member of a roofing crew to complete daily production goals.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:

  • Work with crew to complete all aspects of assigned job including tear-off, repairs, installations, and other tasks assigned.
  • Assist with job site cleanup such as trash and debris control.
  • Participate in trainings including on the job training and companywide mandatory trainings.
  • Perform work that meets the company standard of having quality, watertight, productive, and safe work.
  • Completes quality detailed work including heat welds, pipe boots, etc.
  • Mentor less-experienced crew members on intermediate commercial roofing skills.

  • Excellent tape measure and mathematical skills relevant to level of service.
  • Maintain required tools and personal protective equipment needed to perform the job.
  • Ability to understand and communicate in either English or Spanish.
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment physical, agility test, and drug screen.
  • A valid driver’s license is preferred.
  • Ability to inspect tools and equipment for proper use.

Experience:

  • At least 2 years, or equivalent, of Commercial Roofing experience is required.
  • Forklift experience and certification required.

Working Conditions:

  • The position will be performed outdoors, and weather conditions will be a huge factor as work will occur in the heat, cold, rain, snow, etc.
  • This position will be exposed to dusty and dirty conditions as well as hazardous materials.
  • Work is done at elevated surface levels.

 

 

 

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, kneel, stand, climb, balance, bend, stoop, and walk for long periods of time (12+ hours), use hands to finger, handle, or feel, climb a 40+ foot ladder, type, talk, and hear. The employee is also required to reach with hands and arms. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Frequent use of hand and power tools is required. Work is performed on elevated levels, in dusty/dirty conditions, and often in extreme weather conditions (heat/cold).

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time nonexempt position. Hours of work and start times vary depending on the season. This position has no supervisory responsibilities when foremen and future foremen are present. If foremen leave the jobsite, future foreman man and roofer take responsibility of the group and daily production goals.
