Elementary 1x1 Behavior Assistant

Reports to VCP Elementary School Principal

WHAT WE ARE SEEKING
The best candidates for this position will embody the values and beliefs at the heart of the VCP mission and vision. 

They will also meet the following qualifications and possess these preferred skills:

Preferred Knowledge/Experience:

• Basic concepts of child growth and development behavior characteristics, particularly pertaining to students with special learning needs

• Behavior management strategies and techniques relating to students experiencing behavioral difficulties

• Positive behavioral interventions and applied behavior analysis

• Routine record storage, retrieval, and management procedures

• Training in de-escalation techniques, crisis prevention, positive behavior reinforcement (preference given to applicants with ABA/CPI training or experience)

Capabilities:

• Work with students having special needs and/or aggressive behaviors

• Appropriately manage student behavior and guide student toward more positive social behavior

• Implement positive behavioral intervention plans

• Model appropriate student behavior support techniques

• Remain calm under difficult situations

• Learn and adapt to new procedures and conditions

• Learn laws, rules, practices, and procedures related to public education for children and related to the program to which assigned

Job Duties:

• Provides one on one direct support with designated student

• Implements behavior intervention plans and strategies; consults and collaborates with district and site staff

• Collects data as part of assessment process

• Participate in IEP meetings as appropriate

• Maintains appropriate documentation, records, and reports

• Supports student through transition into new education settings

• Performs other duties as assigned
